Scholarships
A variable number of scholarships for the Master and Ph. D. students is provided by the main Brazilian agencies (CAPES and CNPq) and also by the state of Rio de Janeiro agency FAPERJ. These scholarships are conferred by the agencies to the Graduate Program and awarded, to the students admitted to the Program, by the Dean of the Graduate Program.
In addition, scholarships can be granted to students working on projects conducted in close collaboration with the chemical industry and related areas. These scholarships are awarded directly to the student by the faculty member responsible for the project.
Foreigner students, in addition to the modality of scholarships described, can apply directly to International Financing Agencies (TWAS, DAAD, Santander, for example) without intervenience of the Program.

The Master and Ph.D. scholarships are granted for a period of 24 and 48 months, respectively. The Ph.D. scholarship provides a monthly additional workbench stipend for expenditures related exclusively to the development of the research project.

The Master and Ph.D. scholarships are granted for a period of 24 and 48 months, respectively.
Scholarships from CNPq and CAPES are awarded to the students according to their grades in the test of chemistry. The CNPq Ph.D. scholarships are awarded preferentially to the students with the best grades in the admission test of chemistry.
FAPERJ - Fundação Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro
These are special scholarships, named “Grade 10”, implying that they are awarded to the best Master and Ph. D. students of the Program. For applying to these scholarships, a minimum of 12 months (Master) or 24 months (Ph.D.) of residence in the Program is required and the student applying must have grade A in all the courses taken. Two such scholarships are available every year for Master students and one for Ph.D. students. The scholarships are awarded to the applicants chosen through an internal selection procedure conducted by a Committee appointed by the Dean of Graduate Studies.

ANP -– Agência Nacional de Petróleo
Scholarships are also available to students admitted to the Graduate Program and whose research advisers have projects associated to the ANP/Chemistry Institute PRH1 Oil and Gas Program.The Master and Ph.D. scholarships are granted for a period of 24 and 48 months, respectively. The scholarships are awarded by the Executive Officer of the PRH1 Program according to a selection procedure described in the website www.iq.ufrj.br/anp.
Private companies Scholarships can also be granted to students working on projects conducted in close collaboration with the chemical industry and related areas. These scholarships are awarded directly to the student by the faculty member responsible for the project.
